RETURN ROOTED
A Retreat for Creatives and Change-Makers
October 23-26, 2025 on Whidbey Island, WA
THE CALL
Late October is a transformative time of year when we welcome the growing dark. This autumnal retreat is a portal, a chance to press pause in a churning world. Invite the tender parts of your body to rest, renew, and root down. Receive the gift of silence and solitude. You don't have to know it all or do it all. Welcome the drip-drop of knowing as it pools up inside of you. There is no urgency. Only the potent and powerful moment before you.
THE RETREAT
Return Rooted will leave you feeling more grounded and centered with tools to support your holistic wellbeing as we explore themes of creativity, radical imagination, healing, community care, and joy as a birthright. Return Rooted is:
A delicious antidote to grind culture
A heart-filled reclaiming of your time and energy
A joyful act of resistance in the face of an unknown future
A chance to gather together to create, connect, and return home rooted
WHO IS IT FOR?
Return Rooted is for change-makers, creatives, doers, makers, healers, teachers, grievers, mothers, leaders, and women who are holding it all together. It is for those who have been pouring their life energy into their relationships, their work, and their communities. It is for women and gender expansive leaders who are craving abundant time, creative re-ignition, and radical rest.

“Now more than ever, the world needs creative minds, rooted in curiosity, with clear, expressive voices, connected to purpose, who trust, deeply, what they know, feel and see. This is how we shift culture.”
— Sarah Greenman, The Creative Alchemy Cycle
THE LOCATION
The Whidbey Institute has been a home for transformational learning since 1972. Their mission is to nurture the conditions for transformational learning, and their purpose is to be a place for those called by the responsibility and transformative potential of these times.
The 106-acre conservation forest campus on South Whidbey Island features integrated gardens and a four-mile trail network. The Whidbey Institute is located on the territory of the Lower Skagit, Swinomish, Suquamish, and Snohomish tribes—the island Tscha-kole-chy, named Whidbey Island by colonial settlers.
THE FOOD
Delicious, abundant, and nourishing meals and snacks will be lovingly prepared by Chef Christyn Johnson and her skilled team, using local, fresh, organic produce. Christyn’s team is always willing and able to accommodate special dietary requests, and meals often include an abundance of gluten-free, low-sugar, and vegan options.
